Mink Oil, softens, conditions, and waterproofs I've been using it on leather since the 70s'.

With mink oil i heat the oven up to about 150 and turn off, put boots in for about 3-4 mins to warm. It soaks in really well when applied.

I don't have any holsters , but I have repaired hundreds of baseball gloves . I like to use mink oil , it keep's the leather from drying out and helps it form the shape you want .. If you don't like the initial " oily " feel right after applying mink oil , another good one is shaving cream ---apply it very liberally a couple of times and let it soak . We used to do this to "waterproof" boots. Try using a blowdryer on the leather after you rub it down with Mink Oil. Liquifies the oil and helps it sink into the leather better.
