Does anyone use a Ford 2.7 Eco Boost to pull their Bass Boat? I have a 21ft Triton and i am looking at a different tow vehicle.

Been pulling a 20' BassCat Puma with 250 Merc for two years with a 2.7 with no problems use Tow/Haul mode as it helps with braking.

Me too, pulls my 19’8” boat fine. I do have to drop down to 8th gear on the highway to keep from 8-9th gear hunting. We have a few hills around here though, could run in 9th gear if it was flatter. I wouldn’t want to pull a boat across the county though, I’d probably go up to the 3.5, if I were doing that.

Your fuel mileage will greatly drop when towing, but it’s pretty nice mpg, when not towing.

Borrowed a buddies 2.7 for a trip a few months back, it did fine. I liked the ride so much better than my F-250, I traded mine in on a 3.5. I will say, it does great except gas mileage. Mine gets about 10 mpg towing at 78 mph.

What kind of fuel mileage are you guys seeing towing with the 2.7? I tow with the 5.0 and when the bug is behind it I'm hovering somewhere around 10 mpg. I'd like to do better than that on my next ride.

I have been pulling a BCB Erya and now a BCB Caracal for 4.5 years with the F150 4X4 2.7. I am pleasantly surprised with the towing.

@70 pulling my boat I get right at 12.6 MPG, kick it up to 75-80 and you lose 1.5-2MPG.

I intended to buy a 3.5 like we have in our Expedition, but the only white 4X4 they had that wasn't $65K was one with a 2.7, like I said earlier I have been pleasantly surprised.

When I buy a new truck it will either be a 3.5 EB or 1/2 ton diesel

Most any 1/2 ton except for diesels towing a 20’ bass boat are only going to get 10-12 mpg at highway speeds.

I have a 2021 3.5 Eco and I love the way it tows. Usually see around 14.8-16mpg towing my Cougar around/19.3-22 when i’m not. I went with the 30gallon fuel tank not the smaller one. I don’t drive 80 towing my boat though, 55-65 is what I coast around. Boat also stays at Fork so I typically tow less than an hour one way each time I go out. But the “trailer active” feature really helps, hardly feel the boat back there IMO

Most 3/4 ton diesels are going to get worse than that

Towing a 22 ft Majek Extreme with a 3.5 I get 12 mpg at 65 or less. 70 is 11 mpg. 75 right at 10 mpg. Go faster get less mpg. Best I can get trying to maximize mpg is just under 13 mpg.

Normal combined city and hwy mileage is usually 21 to 22 mpg.

185k on the truck.

Towing at 70ish with my 2.7, I get around 14mpg. I get the same with my diesel, but it sure does cost alot more overall. frown

Here's a tip... It tows flawlessly unless and until there's an issue with the turbo-chargers. I had over 200k miles on my truck when I traded it in. I wanted a V-8 this round. Gas mileage is similar when towing, but like others have said speed kills mileage at a significant rate at or above the Texas speed limits.
