Chris, how far from the birds should people kill their main motor? I usually idle in and kill it at about 75 yards…

Chris, how far from the birds should people kill their main motor? I usually idle in and kill it at about 75 yards… I do not know about hybrids but the electronic bass tracking study the TPWD was doing on Toledo Bend showed that 1/3 of the bass that they were tracking by GPS moved out of where they were holding when they came in with the main motor. None of the fish that they were tracking moved away when they came in with the trolling motor. Like I said I do not if the same holds true in this situation but I dont run into places Im going to start to fishing with my main motor running anymore based on what this study shows how bass could react.

It is so much easier to spook them on a sunny day as compared to a cloudy day. Even the trolling motor spooks them on clear days IMHO.

It depends for sure Lots of wind big motor low rpm’s go upwind and use the wind to drift towards the action Calm and clear they definitely spook easy even with TM One thing that is always drives me crazy is the people that just fly into the middle of it or crash into them plow into them and then they get rewarded with a fish not only does it drive me crazy because you should not be rewarded for that behavior it also reminds me of the old joke about the father and son Bull up on the cliff looking down at all the cows in the valley :-)

Chris, can you install a Ring camera on your boat and capture this?? It's an annual run-into-school event as long as I've been fishing. Kinda like folks putting buchets of candies out for Halloween and one or two kids will take em, ruin it for the rest and the owners got videos to share to the world. It's just an annual event now LOL. But most kids, most anglers know how to behave correctly so we only video and shame the bad ones and entertain ourselves. Lol

Ring lol… Now Todd you know how old-school I am I wouldn’t even know where to start. Today was completely fogged in all morning even with wind but the fish didn’t seem to mind :-)

We like to motor upwind if possible and stop, let the fish come to us. And always fish deeper even when the frenzy has passed, big fish are slower and are still gorging on the falling or fallen shad.
