This picture is 3 years old today. The small greenhouses must be extremely well staked otherwise they will catch the wind end up down the street.

What do you want to know? Give me questions. I’ve had the tiny ones all the way up.

The collection has grown. I’m around 85(ish?) plumeria, 50 desert roses, various tropical fruit trees and things. [Linked Image]

Best advice I can give is get one of those Buddy propane heaters. You can imagine the panic when we lost power.

In South Carolina you will need some kind of shade for a polycarbonate ones. I have a 14' one. I made shade covers out of cooleroo shade cloth for mine. Gets hot enough to cook things on sunny days.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

You seem like my wife. She could stick a 2x4 in a pot of dirt and I'll be damned when a pine tree would pop up. She(we) have 27 plumerias and around 77 other potted plants that I get to lug to and from the garage between seasons

No schedule. Almost everything in my collection is drought tolerant by design and doesn’t want much … especially in the winter. About once a week in the summer I’ll go spend a couple hours dragging the hose around. More or less as required. In the winter I might splash some water at the hibiscus relatives but tropical succulents hate being cold and wet. Plumeria, dragon fruit, and adeniums get no water at all.

Look into “macho” ferns. I’ve got three that only come inside when it’s going to freeze and they’re loveseat size. They’re massive, healthy, and spread.

I guess this wasn't quick and easy but it turned out really nice.

I built this one by myself about 2 years ago. Just took a few pictures of greanhouses, did a little research, threw together a sketch in autoCAD and got busy, it took me about a Month chipping away at it. It has a pretty cool automated ventelation system with a exhaust fan and 2 intake vents that are contrilled by thermostat and automatically open and close. If I had it to do over again I would put some different poly on the roof that blocks more sun as it gets up to 115 to 120 degrees in the summer with the fans on. Works great in the outside of the summer heat. I also put 2 - 1500 watt WIFI temp controlled heaters in there for the Winter time and it takes those 2 heaters to keep it at around 45 to 50 degrees when the temps are right around freezing but when the temps drop down below freezing I have to also run a Mr. Buddy propoane heater at night as well.
