anyone crappie fish this lake? from what ive read it opens and closes alot. you have to either reserve or check in and pay 30.00 to fish, and the hours are 7.00 am to 3.30 pm. FRI-SAT-SUNDAY ONLY ALOT of rules. but maybe worth it if its infested with crappie.. or has big crappie there

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I'm not willing to fight the bass crowd at Squaw Creek no matter how good the crappie fishing is. As I understand it they line up hours before the gate opens.

"Life is a matter of luck and the odds of success are in no way enhanced by extreme caution." - Erich Topp, German U-boat Commander, 1943.

When in doubt, set the hook.

being a deep , gin clear lake, thats never been stocked with crappie and reportedly full of bass I imagine crappie would have a hard time thriving there. I dont know of any deep clear lakes that are great crappie fisheries.

I've fished it since the mid 80's and have never caught a crappie, nor have I ever heard of anyone catching any.

Fished the lake probably more than anyone since it opened back after 9/11. I have never caught one, nor seen one.

Everything that looks like crappie on scope ends up being endless schools of talapia.

with posts on other sites claiming people catching 70 to 90 largemouth in a day, 2 to 7 lbers. I imagine crappie would have a short life in there.

I’ve fished this lake for the past 25 years but not since it was closed after Covid hit. I’ve only ever caught crappie on one day in all those trips and that was in May 2018. We were catching bass in the creek channel near the mouth of the north creek on crankbaits but then hooked into black crappie on the same red crankbaits. Within a few minutes I had 3 in the boat and then didn’t catch another one. We fished around with crappie jigs on that trip and other trips but never got back into them.

Here’s a photo of those 3 near the fish cleaning station. Lots of other places to catch crappie for sure.
