The Team idea is the only thing that will save them, they finally found something that might work.

for the doom sayers out there, they only have 50 hours of TV exposure on the Sportsman,Discovery and CBS sports channels for November and December.....Incidently Major League fishing is the #1 rated outdoor show on TV...for those yapping about them changing the no entry fee, read the following about the new team concept which will begin airing in January...
The winning three-man team in the General Tire Team Series Championship will claim the $300,000 top prize. The second-place team will earn $60,000, and the third-place team will win $30,000. Teams fourth through ninth in the championship will each earn $15,000 prize. All anglers will receive $3,000 for participating in the no-entry fee Qualifying Events. How much of that TV time is fresh shows? They have a finite amount of content that gets aired and repeated among those channels. Even with that amount of airtime why are they having to change weight formats? As for the team deal you are now saying that anglers that fought tooth and nail for years Tobys cove able to build their own brand and showcase their sponsors now prefer to be part of a 3 man team wearing jerseys covered inMLF sponsors? just a guess but probably 1/3 is fresh shows and 2/3 is re-runs ....not sure if fresh vs. re-runs means anything since so many people record shows plus I would think the important number is the number of people watching and it has to be a huge increase over the 30-35 hours BASS was offering for years ..... as far as the team deal and their jerseys, don't know the answer to that however in previous tournaments, they wore jerseys with both MLF sponsors and their own sponsors...(I have no connection to either BASS or MLF other than enjoying watching both and wishing both success)...

The Team idea is the only thing that will save them, they finally found something that might work. I enjoyed the TWPC and its coverage. It was full of guys hungry to get to the next level. I enjoyed tge Cups depending on where they were fishing. The Eagle Mountain/ Lewisville event was good to watch. When they hit the smallmouth dropshot lakes I don't watch but I don't watch any events like that for the most part. I tried watching the team deal. I wish them well on it but it wasn't something I would make a point to watch.

The team deal might lose interest to me, I definitely won’t pay for it and it kinda sounds like that’s where they want to go with it. What I liked about it though, was seeing if it was a good spot or if it was a technique. One of those things, we as anglers, always wonder. Am I throwing the wrong lure or am I in a bad spot.

Why would they do this if they were getting the viewers they claimed and were as successful as they have claimed? Why tinker with what’s working? Lol The format change has very little do with viewership. They're simply going to trade out some of the "five fish guys" who might start watching more and lose someone who was a "catch em all" fan but still end up with the same general number of viewers.

Jordan Lee was on BTL today, discussing the change. He makes a pretty good point for the positives of it, guys can’t sit on the dinks if someone else is on the toads.

Well Mark aren’t you the numbers guy? You keep saying everything was great numbers through the roof everything was fine growing. So is it good numbers or not? I don’t watch, never have watched just because of their attitude when they had the split. Now here we are again getting this “ Breaking News” now going to a 5 fish format. The pros going on podcast and social media commenting on the new format. Some good with it others not so much. Why is there so much changing going on? If everything was fine they would be rolling into the next season with out a word. Guess we will have to wait and see. I truly don’t think there’s going to be anymore watching then before because people don’t like the bitter taste they got when those guy’s pulled their leaving stunt.

I can't believe the bitterness of grown men because other grown men switched fishing circuits. I never would have dreamed that it would be so traumatic for many.

It wasn’t that, it was the attack campaign that they started with. They even had guys saying that they didn’t want tournament anglers as their viewers, they wanted a new audience. (Hence the housewives comments) Well, it didn’t work out so well for them. A few of the anglers have kind of apologized for some of the comments, but not many did. I think they would get quite a few more viewers if they’d come out and apologize as a group.

I've seen the numbers for the last 4 years from a digital standpoint. They will be the same moving forward and the impact, if any, will be minimal. Both platforms get the same basic number of live viewers. The difference is in the TV reach, at least for now. I've said this for years, people can post on a forum or on social that they're mad and not watching all they want but they still logon, watch it on TV, scroll the leaderboard, read lake breakdowns, etc etc. So it doesn't matter what they say, it matters that they're on the platform and they count in the numbers recap at the end of the day. The work our agency performed for MLF was directly related to data mapping and identity resolution. We built their first party DMP over the last 4 years.

Yeah, while I prefer Biggest 5 over every dink counts, I was still watching when I had the time to do so. I'm a fan of fisherman in both circuits and will watch them regardless of what format they are fishing.
If BPT and BASS are on at the same time, I would tune to BASS.
