Quick update as promised fellas. Just got back from the trip. Weather on Friday was terrible. Hard rain and storms. Did not get to fish at all.

Yesterday (Sat 10/29) first half of the day was rough with on and off showers, strong N winds and no sun at all. Tried for the mighty gills for a while without any luck. I did have the curly tails ripped off my little grubs a few times but no takers.

The bass however were more cooperative and despite the very tough conditions (or what we would classically consider tough conditions) I had a pretty good day catching bass, think I had 12 or 15 total? Somewhere in there. Biggest one 4.5 lbs. Lots of dinks in the 12-14 inch range but enough good ones to keep it interesting.

I hope to be able to try out there again soon before the real cold kicks in! Its just such a fun lake to fish. I forgot how much I enjoy that lake. Been a good while since I had been there.

Thanks for the tips guys! If anyone gets a hot lead on some 10+ inch gills I am still wanting one, feel free to drop me a line. Till next time happy fishing amigos!

Go in the June/July timeframe. The 10 inchers are there. All the fish below came from Athens in the last year or two.

If you can get there in Apr the crappie will be biting.
