They (THSBA) usually get them posted to their website by Tuesday or so after the tourney. Awards Ceremony is on their FB page. 17.79 won. 7.98 won big bass.

And my opinion is that it's just another tournament- tons of them every weekend.

If it bothers you so much, ignore it and fish on the weekdays. If you think all bass bite on those days, you are highly mistaken. One of the worst things to do to a bite is put a lot of pressure on the fish. They shut down and just wont bite. Ive used livescope enough now to know the majority of fish will not bite what is presented to them. I would much rather these teens be doing something outdoors rather than wasting life on video games, or hanging out at malls shooting each other.

I would love to hunt! Got a place for me to bring my son? The price of land and leases is astronomical now. It's cheaper just to buy a cow.

I do. Duck hunt most of the season. But my boys also fish THSBA this time of year and that’s just as important. It’s actually taken up most of my fishing time now. But I really enjoy watching them fish and learn. Also allows me to teach them how to act on the water. And there’s a lot of people that need to learn that respect.
We did ok out there yesterday but was still a grind. And a good lesson for the boys. But with 240 teams. That’s close to 500 kids fishing and getting into the sport. That’s stronger than any other high school sport except maybe football.
But a typical weigh in for these events draws more people than any bass champs event I’ve fished, Bassmaster, or MLF.
We only fish 5 events in our division. September thru March. Pretty spread out. That’s really not that bad. And to my knowledge. There’s only 1 other division fishing Lewisville. Maybe 2.

I don’t think it significantly impacts the fish populations on a lake the size of Lewisville. Sure, that number of fisherman will negatively impact the “bite” during the tourney and for a week or so later. A lot of bass may be moved around to different areas but most all of them will still be in the lake.
That said, I wouldn’t want to be on the lake during all that unless I had some competitors involved. Good to see the yutes hopefully enjoying fishing. fish

The first rule of the "cool club" is not to talk about the cool club.

I did investigate on your behalf and see that all the openings for the initiation and pledge are spoken for this year. Please check FY 24 when open enrollment starts.

My question is, how much fishing pressure (due to high volume tournaments) is too much to where we see significant decline in fish population on area lakes?

Is that not a valid question for the cool club? Or do I need to be initiated into something?

Not a valid question! Just opinions about impact on fish populations. You must have the initiation password.

and the handshake..

Guess what? There’s going to be another 200 + there this coming weekend for another THSBA tournament. I’ll be one of them.

The North Division normally would not have as many entries (240), but because the Metroplex Division is fishing Lewisville next week many took advantage of the opportunity to pre-fish and compete at the same time. This trend will probably continue in November for Ray Roberts as it did last month for Texoma.

The divisional tournaments usually have 150-170 teams competing.

I think that if the tournaments had any kind of negative effects on the lake or the fish TP&W would step in and say so. I can assure you these tournaments have an economic effect on the lake communities and the tackle industry.

We fished the tournament yesterday. Only had one of my anglers with me and managed to finish in the top 20. Struggled to put a fifth keeper in the live well, but we learned a lot for next week.

High School fishing is awesome for the kids. I am thankful I have never had to just do my fishing on the weekends. Weekend warriors have to share the water I suppose.

My only complaint was a few sketchy safety issues I have personally witnessed. But that is on uncle charlie the boat captain not really the kids.

Now that Squat Creek is open that would be a great venue to host most of the high schoolers, fish seem to bite really good there.

I think it would be cool to see 1000 boat tourney one day...

For those that have never fished one of these. This is the view coming in. It’s bigger than a lot of big bass events at Fork even. Like Doug said, there’s some safety stuff I see sometimes. But overall, it’s a good deal.
I really think it’s awesome our kids have something like this to compete in. I would’ve loved to have this when I was in high school.

"Growing the sport" is 100% about people and corporations making money.

With every new angler there is dollars to be made.
