Has anyone had any information on how the Lake Dunlap dam is coming, and when do they expect to have it completed.

I live on what is now river Dunlap. Dam is supposed to be (if on schedule) next July. Realistically, talking to the guys on the board, they say late summer to early fall of 2023.

I believe that they are working on the second gate of 3 now.

Here are a few pics from last fall... Late next summer is also what I heard...my brother owns adjacent property. The canal in pic 3 used to be my prime catfish spot...

There is a road but it is only for maintenance and construction of the dam. There are rumors there is land that has been acquired somewhere between the Dunlap dam and McQueeney main lake where a road may be built in the future connecting 46 and 725 but who knows.....

Hope if they ever do it they put a launching ramp under it so we can fish McQueeny again.

I heard that being talked about 20 years ago, with a lot of opposition to it back then!
Times have changed, and the development and growth of the area probably makes it a sure thing.

Just one more cast!

Glad to see they have made some progress. Last time I kayaked down there they were just clearing the area and bringing in equipment.

The people on McQueeney were asked and they said "no". Sorry.

Heard this last week from a person who toured the site.

The schedule contracted completion is June - July 2023. They are currently 3 weeks behind on schedule and Superintendent feels they can make this up if there are no major flood events between now and then. They were well behind that a few months back.

The first spillway (structural steel) gate is scheduled to arrive any day now and they will be starting concrete work on the third gate very shortly. The concrete work on the outside gates is complete and now they will begin on the middle gate.

The news is very positive. There is a committee working with TP&W on a stocking program as soon as the lake refills.
