 I have never fished Lake Bastrop

Had thought about going to Ivie this week but does not seem like the bite is very good. Thinking about making the drive to Lake Bastrop. Have never been there or seen the lake. Anything i need to know before i go? how is the lake level as far as launching boats. I also saw there are two ramps, and recommendations on which ramp to use?

The lake is what I consider to be about 2 feet low. Both ramps are still very usable. I fished the lake today and had one of the worse days on it that I can remember. Six fish in 4 hours that probably didn't add up to 4 pounds. It happens. Usually, a very good numbers lake.

It’s a dink fest lake but if all you are after is bites, go for it.

go to fayette county, it will spoil you Not right now it wont Fayette is off right now. Algae bloom or something. Getting bites are like pulling teeth at the moment. September and October are my least favorite months on that lake. Other than Jan-Feb anyway when it gets beat to death.

Bastrop is a dink fest. Not worth the time and i like super close to it.
Fayette is super slow right now, but should start picking up any day. Last October I smoked them every week

Fished Bastrop twice in the past week. Numbers were less than usual but still had fun. Best 5 were 13lbs last Wednesday and only about 11 yesterday.

Fished today for first time at bastrop. Fished from 11am-7pm. Found a stretch that produced all day. Caught 23 bass between 1.25-3lbs and a 3.5 lb channel cat. All on Texas rig soft plastic. Really like the lake, boat ramps were great. Will definitely make some return trips.

If you're fishing central texas, you should try Decker/Walter E Long, although I've read it's low and you have to be super careful launching

We had a 70 fish day at Fayette last year, been to Decker once and caught only one but I suck fishing grass, we left Decker @ noon and went to Bastrop and caught a handful but not to great a day. I prefer the south ramp at Bastrop.

Fished it today. Had a few bites
Got off early as I don't think there was a piece of water without a boat on it
