Figgered i'd post todays trip since i rarely fish Travis. Went out with my buddy from Austin Native Fishing Guide (Austin Native Fishing Guide – | Time for your next big catch) and had a great time. We hit a few gently sloping banks with stumps and rocks and got a few what i would call "Lake Travis Bass", on the small side, 1-2#. Blake says "let go hit some sticks, so up river we went to the Rattle Snake Island area (that's "The Island on Lake Travis retirement community to y'all new to Austin) It's a short trip from Tournament Point, but a bit of a ride from Mansfield. Anyway, fish were abundant and large. can't give too many details as, well, he's a guide and he gets paid for his knowledge, but it was a good day. on at 7am off at 1pm with about 5 hours actual fishing time and we boated...well, we shook a few off at the boat, but we caught about 20.
I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

Thanks y'all and since i went alone today and fished in different areas with different baits i feel i can give more info. i looked for stick ups on rocky sloping banks just outside coves. smokey gray paddle tail swim baits on shaky heads did the trick although i DID catch one nice largemouth on on a watermelon ribbon tail T rigged. It was actually an accident. I tossed it out to work on a birds nest in the reel. when i reeled in BAM! a fish, lol. the guadalupe bass were hitting HARD while larger largemouth were more gentle. fished for about 4 hours and caught 12. no big ones today, biggest went 2.5

Nice report...glad to see the fishing is improving. Gotta get out and give it a go now that it is cooling off.
Rattlesnake Island is the island at the mouth of Sandy Creek, down by the dam. Area newbs call it Starnes Island. I've never heard The Island called anything but...The Island. It did start off as a dedicated retirement community but is now a condo/vacation rental property.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading
