do you fish from a boat or are you fishing from shore at the park? i have never fished from the park but i hear that is what the catch mostly there. if you are fishing from shore i would go as far to the east as possible and fish the point beyond the ramp. i have seen some trout caught there on artificials as well as finger mullet free lined.

Hey david!

Dunkin's house, IME, is not far enough south. On any LLM map, look for the relatively deeper bay south east of behind that cabin.

Also, make a trip over towards the Cullen house, fish that bay, but also try back towards the Arroyo back in Rattlesnake.

Try some smaller size topwaters like skitterwalk, sk jr's in bone or clown, or the new mirrodine lures.

Try some gold spoons in 1/4 oz or 1/2 oz and also some Gulp plastics on 1/8 oz. screw jig heads in new penny color.

Go to Academy and ask for a "Mauler" type rig and put a Gulp/jig combo too!

Let us know how that works!

I usually fish from the shore and in the past 2 years I have only caught about 5-10 catfish (most of them were gafttop). I go fishing in Arroyo City at least 3-6 times a month. I usually catch reds, black drums, and trout. All small from the shore in the park though. My dad caught a 3ft. yellow fin tunna which surprised the heck out of me since they are not typically found in the area. So, I find it odd that all you caught was mainly catfish. P.S. Never fish from the piers. It's either slow or all you catch is catfish.

Glad to have you new guys here!

redfishhunter- Your dad's catch was probably a heck of a battle, but it was a Jack Crevalle!

Do a Google Image search on the Jack Crevalle, then do the same on Yellow Fin Tuna.

YFT's are deep water, pelagic fish.

Thanks Ragman. I did the search and it did look like the crevalle jack. Not sure how deep the water is in the area but every once in a while, we also see dolphins. When he caught that crevalle, he battled it for about 10-15 min. He was using a Daiwa Sportmax GS9000(an older daiwa reel) and one of those vintage rods that have no name and are one color such as a yellowish, orange color. I guess you can't beat the classics!!!
