Contemplating a transfer for work which would be in Alvarado. Quick Realtor.com search shows nice houses near lake Grandbury. Can y’all give me the good and bad of this area and lake, and provide other opinions on where to live with in an hour drive of Alvarado? Preferably near a lake with good bass and crappie fishing, low recreational traffic from ski boats a jet fleas would be a major plus. Hopefully the meth heads aren’t an issue around there! Oh and golf is a plus as well.

Granbury is an olds town except for holidays then the youngs come to town and there is unbelievable traffic. Lots of good fishing, HEB, and decent restaurants. Overall it’s a good town plus you got squaw creek.

Whitney is nice, BUT you gotta know which areas to buy in or you're gonna have meth neighbors... but the traffic on 377 in Granbury would be a deal breaker for sure.

I too am looking in these areas. I like Whitney area but most of what i pull up is White Bluff which appears nice. I have no desire to have my HOA fees supporting three golf courses that I would never use. Anything else out that way ?

Why dont you just move to alvarado ? Burleson has golf. Theres a lake in alvarado and cleburne. You can buy housing anyway you like it . They have new subdivisions. Cattlemen dying off and selling whole ranches . To simple houses or apartments.

What conpany do you work for ?

The house across from me is for sale. 2 1/2 ac.

Midlothian. Good schools, Joe Pool Lake, good stores, no traffic except at 5:00 pm and on weekends., Friday Night Lights kinda town.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

I could go for Whitney as well, just doesn’t appear to have as good of a selection of houses for sale. I’m in no rush, this is probably a year or 2 out from happening, but will most likely happen.

I like living around olds, they typically keep to themselves and are quiet neighbors.

Good information on this thread. It sounds like it’s a good area. Keep the ideas and info coming.

You might look at Glen Rose also. They've got golf, several lakes 20 minutes to an hour away and its a cool little town.
