It was used to retrieve birds that hit the water. Sure was fun when you missed the bird and caught a nice fish on the retrieve.

I was sitting next to a stock tank full of bass catching one after another. When a bird(s) were coming, I put my rod under my leg, picked up my shotgun and started shooting. Sometimes I had to do this when I had a bass on the line. Good times! Light Blue 19 CPX

Best way to get the birds moving, be distracted lol and yes, its time to start culling some of those bass.
