Y'all, My dear wife is a professional scrapbooker. She loves it almost as much as I love catfishing. Anyway, she is making me a could shadow boxes with the pictures of my two biggest fish this year. The first one is done. This is the 74 pound Blue I got with Josh Brown of Backwoods Catfishing on Lake Guntersville. Y'all have seen the picture but not like this. The float he bit and the 12/0 hook that snagged him are in the box along with the picture and what is knows in the biz as embellishments. Love her to pieces and love that she has a good time making these so I can sit in my office and see these pics and remember the great fishing moments I have had. Thank you dear!

I have one question here, the 12/0 hook I get, but the float, you drifting the bait or just how was you doing this, if you don't mind sharing any helpful info lol...

Besides my tilt & trim unit is out, parts ordered and we are finally getting some rain out here, I can't go fishing, so my next best thing is to visit with guys who are lol. There are so many ways to rig baits for one fish to another. Just that I would ask, and if you don't mind would really like to know.

For instance I have fished Offshore in the salty water as well and have seen those guy rig there baits to where once you hook up to a fish, the fish thrashing around trying to throw the hook, the weight or sinker is thrown off. That way it's not there to help flink the hook out. The bigger the sinker the bigger the problem if it's very close to the hook, the way this one guy was telling me was, they didn't want anything but the hook and a swivel once the fish was on.

So they rigged theirs to throw off really easy once the fight was on. I thought it was a great idea and you see the size of some of the weights they use to get the bait down really fast so that all the little fish didn't get it, you can see why the weight can be a problem.

Anyway, off on one of my posts where I get out of control, just thought I would ask about the float.

Rowdy, it is a santee rig. You can see pictures of it if you google it. The float just holds the bait up off the bottom...

I got you on the hold off the bottom. I have been using my top water baits as they lose their paint. Least trying that. They do have the rattle balls in them, so not sure on that. Coarse I pull the hooks.

Up until this rigging, I have always dropped the sinker on the bottom, then leader off the bait 2' above the sinker. This just has bad habits of tangling.

The live bait shop here, that guy gave me a LED lighted float he wants me to use like this. Never knew that till now Tim. Thanks man... He just tossed me this LED float as I walked out the door the other day, the whole time I told him I have been fishing in 20-30' of water lol. Heck I never thought about the float above the sinker on the bait like what I have been doing with my old top water baits, I am a little slow is the only thing I can come up with to save face, lol...

One of the lucky ones! It's great to see and hear someone that cherishes his wife and their marriage. I probably wouldn't even be alive today without mine! Blessings on top of blessings!

It would be great to have a shadow box for each real trophy you've caught. I still can't get over that fish making you look like you're an average sized guy LOL!

Mrs. Catfish Tim for the win!
