My issue with the expensive shirts, though well designed and performing, is that fishing has it’s hazards. Blood, random dirtiness, hooks catching your shirt, fish fins catching your shirt, etc., the shirts start to get torn or beaten up. At $50+ a shirt that doesn’t thrill me. I bought a couple of these on Amazon for $20 and I think they are great. They breathe well and they’re cheap and I only fish with hooded shirts because I hate neck/face gaters. Plus, I like to jump in the water a few times throughout the day to soak my clothes. That always helps.
If you can't find em wind em.

What is the best fishing shirt for East Texas heat and humidity? Wear a sleeveless shirt under a white long sleeve dress shirt. Leave the dress shirt unbuttoned and dip it in the water often to cool you off.

For the just want a fishing shirt good in the heat, look at the Hanes Cool Dri shirts. They come in 2 packs about half the price of most of the other brands. I have those, a couple AFTCO's and an UA and they are comparable to them, just cheaper.
Thanks for the recommendation. Got a pair--they're great. Probably get another pair.

I have some Magellan hooded long sleeves. They have held up well and works well. My favorite I have is a 1/4 zip long sleeve. I like it because it has the collar that keeps my gaiter inside my shirt on back of my neck. It’s a Huk which can be a little pricey but I am sure they have them in other cheaper brands if you’re not looking to spend a lot.

Lighter bright colors are good for wade fishing as they can see you better.

I buy Magellan brand from academy. They are well priced and work great. Many models of the Magellan shirts are not on par with "the good stuff" in that they are made with thicker material woven tighter that does not breathe as well as some others. I have gotten some of both with the Magellan branding. You need to hold them up to the ceiling lights to look through the material - you'll start to see the difference. Compare them to a Huk or Columbia button-up and you will see the difference that I'm pointing out. Back before Covid, I have discretely blown my breath through the shirt-tail to compare them, and there was a big difference. My Magellan shirts are OK in milder weather, but some of the other brands beat them bigtime when it comes to cooling comfort in our hottest months. The best brand I've ever used - Pelagic. They're not cheap, but the closest thing to feeling like you aren't even wearing a shirt! Anything but Magellan. They are not true to size and their shirts are cut funny. Can't get caught at the ramp with store brand clothing... Gotta make sure every one sees Huk or Columbia on you

I got a couple of the hooded realtree fishing shirts at Walmart. They feel the same as the others I have and we’re about $15.

I shared this on the sandbass report.. Long sleeve quick dry shirts with a hood are hands down the first necessity. I am typically a XL shirt because I am 6'4" and I have long arms. With these shirts I wear a 2x or 3x. You do not want skin hugging shirts. I used to haul hay for a job in the summers while I was in high school and long sleeve white cotton shirts kept me cool. The quick dry shirts are 10x better. Secondly, wear swim trunks if you can. You are going to be pouring water on your sleeves, and down your neck to wet the shirt. If your wearing cotton underwear your going to get "itchy butt" if you sit in wet shorts. And lastly, you need a hat, i wear a hand woven straw hat that was given to my dad by a friend from Mexico. Straw hats are the best, but you may need to add a stampede string. The bigger the better . Now, the most important thing with clothes, dont wear anything dark. (Anything!!!). Ballcaps, do-rags, shirts all need to be the lightest colors. My quickdry shirts are so dirty that I typically look like a homeless person when I stop at the store. But when you get these completely wet you will cool down, initially the shirt will stick to you buy in about 5 minutes your arms will feel like your in an air conditioning environment. I copied this from the web >>> The color of an object is determined by the wavelengths of light that object absorbs, and because absorbed light transforms into thermal energy (heat), darker colors attract more heat. The only color that does not attract heat is white because white objects reflect all visible wavelengths of light. Black – the color that absorbs all visible wavelengths of light – attracts the most heat, followed by violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red, in descending order. To stay cool during the summer and keep warm during the winter, keep this rule of thumb in mind. White, red and yellow are best for the warm months when you want to avoid attracting extra heat. Remember, on the quick dry shirts.. If your an XL, get a 2xl or 3xl. Tight is uncomfortable... Amazon link for shirt

I have HUK, magellan, columbia pfg and costa. All seem to do the same thing. HUK feels slightly better quality than the rest. Heard good things about Aftco products.
