I happened to catch the evening new on ABC last night, there was a story about a private group of divers finding
her car and with a body inside. Sad news for the family.

There was a screen shot of a livescope unit showing the car , upside down in 14 ft of water. So I am guessing Garmin will be
marketing their device to all the search and rescue diving units in the country.

This is the story he is talking about... https://www.sacbee.com/news/california/article264755074.html

Bad deal. Feel for her family. Girl was just 16 years old.

These are tough stories but I kind of grin when they say something on the news like "Police using high tech scanning devices located..." and I see that its like a Lowrance Hook 7 or a side scanning Humming bird etc. I imagine a body would look pretty clear on down scan. Or at least interesting enough to dive on and confirm. If I can watch a crankbait run under my kayak I bet I could flag something like a body or car. The returns on a car would really stand out if it was a soft bottom.

found many bodies, cars and even a gun for DPD in Hubbard before LS. We used Birds and a few of us are pretty good with them. We had $8-10K worth of electronics. No Hook 7's. LOL

When I retired they were trying to get LS in the budget, but don't think they have at this point.

Adventures with purpose is an awesome group

Man I’ve been following the story ever since she went missing. They were looking for her everywhere, even doing sweeps on the register sex offenders up there. It probably doesn’t mean much now but I’m glad that the family found her instead of having to wonder if some pervert kidnapped her

Sad deal for sure... But the technology was probably adapted for fishing use... Dan angel2

Several groups travel the country researching possible scenarios and all of them have been very successful using the technology to locate missing persons some of which date back well over twenty years. I keep up with this particular group regularly.
It amazes me how much resistance local law enforcement gives these guys. Guess they don’t like getting their toes stepped on.
It’s pretty cool they have been able to provide closure to so many families.

This lady was found where I went to college in Arkansas. I had driven over that spot dozens of times but had no idea she was there.

16 year old and alcohol…a recipe for tragedy.

Add in the pitch darkness in those mountains at night…

Sad.

The original person who used sonar (SI & DI) to find bodies and the "father of it all" is a man from Illinois named Dennis Waters.

He's an amazing character with an incredible wealth of knowledge. I was fortunate to get to attend a few of his training classes over the years. He and his wife are remarkable people.

Sad deal. Back in 2013 I found a car off an unused Texoma ramp. Gave the info to the Corps and they pulled it out as a training exercise.

Note from the Lake Manager...

"John,
We did locate the vehicle, it was a red Ford Taurus, older model, all rusted out. It had obviously been in the lake for a very long time.

Thanks for giving us the information and photos on this."

David Goodson at https://shut-up-and-fish.com/ help FD dive teams using livescope. This link shows some good video of his work. https://texasfishingforum.com/forum...h-livescope-lvs32-and-lvs34#Post14433280
