The annual fundraiser offshore charter for the RRHS BAPS program headed offshore yesterday Aug 6th, 2022. with a load of 20 mostly very, very experienced fishermen & women.

Talked to Captain night before, no shrimpboats out deep thru then & that held on Sat. So plan was to fish snapper, etc while watching & radaring for any shrimpboat that might be dragging close enough to us.

Did couple stops for the larger snapper got about 1/3 of a limit there, moved out to a bigger number, lesser over size spot & finished off our limit. First stop was at 7:30am then second run was 1.5 hours out.

Next was over a cut off rig, not much luck, anchored over the "rocks" & dropped for Bee-liners. Most of us put a fair amount of "liners in the boat, Tunatamer did a 10 fish limit, TOO boated 8, and another couple others had limits or close to it.

Couple sharks caught, more were hooked but not caught, then a school of chicken dorado showed up and stayed around for a while, caught a dozen or so. Lite-liner went Ape-poop over that school of chickens. Caught 3 I think.

Finished out the day with a few kings being caught last one I think was by a surprise spot taker, TFF's own Bazztex.

Group worked great together, fished hard but cool to the scene and had a great time. Several guys new to the fundraiser were asking on way back in to be let known when next one was being planned.

Total fundraiser amount raised by the group was over $600; the $300 from the 20 spots & the rest by extra donation from folks on the trip.

Enjoyed greatly even without shrimpboats and tuna.

Thanks to everyone for jumping on board and supporting the cause while fishing hard & having fun.

Special thanks to TFF'ers: Lite-liner, Allison1, Tiff, Tunatamer, Gimmedeal, FWM0103, Jigman, & Bazztex for supporting the charter thru the TFF.

Those 1st five have been on each of these charters and always are a great supportive group.

I'm heading to Old Town for some fish now. Dang, that looks good!

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
