and a big change in the fish's behavior. With the slight temp drop we had yesterday I guess that changed where they wanted to be yesterday, water depth down to so that has to factor in as well. We'd been catching fish on Sandlin the past two weekends up shallow early in the morning while there were shadows and on most of the spots picking up a fish on the first or second cast, weren't tearing them up but we were boating fish. We hit those same spots plus some more that were similar and nothing, it's like they just flat out left those areas, didn't even see any activity at all. Anybody else have the same issues? We goose egged.........

I noticed that the fish moved up higher in the water column yesterday. I had to use a swim bait and Active Target to catch them at my local lake yesterday. They were in the same areas, just suspending.

Looking back and realizing that there was probably a barometric pressure change yesterday morning, I figure the fish we'd been catching probably moved off into the timber nearest the spots we were catching them. I think if we'd moved out and thrown a crank bait or anything that would have worked the middle of the column we would have caught fish.
Can't wait to go "LIve" it probably would have helped us realize exactly what these fish had done to get into a new comfort zone.

Yesterday for us was 100% all about the bait. If bait was present then we got bit. Didn't matter how good a spot was whether shallow or deep if there was not bait there was no bit3s.

With it starting to cool down slightly the shad are pushing up a bit shallower now. I don't think it's been a big move but some are starting the larmte/summer fall migration and the bass are following them.

Now until about October I focus on finding bait first. It's usually slow until you find it.

I fished Naconiche yesterday.. thought it was weird that I never saw any schooling bass all day. Caught a few but mostly on 6 and 5 xd and had to crank it down then pause to let bait float up to get bit. All bites were very subtle and two of the fish I caught had both hooks outside the mouth. Weird day as I thought the conditions were perfect temperature wise for my comfort. roflmao

August and September the two most difficult months to fish in Texas for bass.

We have so many Florida genes in our fish now they are extremely finicky.

Agreed, I can't hardly wait until October gets here, October through about mid November until the cold air really starts to kick in are by far my favorite times to chase these little green fish. I'll be burning some vacation to go chase them.
