My tires even though in good shape, I knew needed to be replaced because of age and sure enough blew one on the way to the lake tonight. Luckily, I still had my unused spare from 1994 on the trailer and limped it home. I need to buy new tires tomorrow and was wondering what brand people are using the most now. I will be doing a lot of traveling from Arlington to Fork and back so I want something reliable. I know there used to be posts about which tires were good but can't find and it is probably outdated by now.

I’ve had great luck with Gladiator QR25-TS trailer tires on boat trailers, my RV and all 3 THSBA weigh-in trailers.

You asked about tires, but I just bought trailer tires from David's Tire Shop in Emory, on 69, north of town. Had a hub issue, smoked a tire, replaced the hub, decided to get all new tires. Called them, got a price, took trailer there 10 minutes later and I was out in 45 minutes max. Always good to have a local shop, locally owned, in my opinion. Great service prices. Since the boat sits at Fork, can't tell you the brand of tires though.

Yep, I have bought the Goodyear Endurance tires. I have had blowouts caused by internal tread separation on two separate sets of Carlise tires that are Chinese made. I plan on changing them out when they finish their 4th year of service even if the tires still have substantial tread left on them.

I’ve had Goodyear Endurance since they’ve been available. On three different boat trailers. They are good, but they ain’t magical unicorn tires. I still destroyed a few. The trailer still has to be in good shape. Wear the tires funny, they will explode just like the china tires. Get the load range “E” tires and run em at 80 seems to be the trick for my Skeeter Built trailer.

Trailer tires are a crapshoot... I just buy what's available and run... Had $70 tire last 4 year and $150 tires last 3 months... The Carlisle's on my current trailer have over 40k miles on them and still have tread and look good... Dan

I find that if I check the tire pressure before I put the trailer on the road, most any tire will last. That is especially true on the bass boat trailers that were made pre 2017 or so. They pretty well all had under sized tires. Least little bit under inflated and they will wear funny and blow.

Here is my answer when RVr's ask this same question. The same idea can apply to boat trailer tires as I upgraded one load range on my Champion's trailer. Instead of looking at the name of the tires, upgrade to a higher load range tire and lower the chances of blowouts. Manufacturers get the lowest bid and put the cheapest tire they can hope will last one year (warranty) and at the lowest load rating. RV owners typically max out or overload the trailer and those cheap tires can’t handle the heat/load for very long. Upgrading to a higher load range tire gives peace of mind. Here’s a great article: https://thecampingadvisor.com/e-rated-tires-vs-g-rated-tires-differences/

Solid takes here. D load minimum and if I am driving more the 25 minutes to the lake, I check air pressure before I leave. With that being said, another vote for the GY Endurance.

good advice from all ----dumb question , I have heard that running them at max or close to max pressure for boats trailers is most important and that if you don't ,the sidewalls aren't designed to flex like a regular car tire ? any truth to that ? I have Goodyear Marathons right now , 4 years and 8 months old ---ready to replace

I was always told to run trailer tires at their max PSI. So that's what I do...most are 50 PSI.

The only information that I know is that the tire only supports its rated max weight at max air pressure. Having a tire that is over rated for the application may, OR MAY NOT, be a good thing. I’m not an expert. My new Skeeter Built trailer came with 225/75ST15” Load E Goodyear Endurance from the factory. The old trailer had 205/75ST14” load D tires. Both are Skeeter trailers. The old one blew tires in 6 months or around 4000 miles, cheap Chinese or GoodYear Indurance…didn’t matter. This new trailer has 15k miles, at least, and the tires still look pretty new.
