I’ll be honest here, I can’t really tell the difference when cranking between Monofilament and Fluorocarbon line. I’m sure Fluorocarbon will run a little deeper but not enough for me to give up that stretch I like to have when fishing crankbaits.
I only use Fluorocarbon now for a leader, I have tried a multitude of different fluorocarbon line and I have the worst luck of braking off when I set the hook. I can’t remember the last time that has happen to me when using monofilament.

It’s all we used to have and millions of fish succumbed to it.

Kind of what I was thinking. I feel like 15lb big game would cut my depth in half.

You would be surprised. I made my living with a DD22 for many years when Fork had a lot of timber still. Hangups were frequent. I used 15 or 20# Big Game all the time. A DD22 will hit 14-15' on a long cast with 20#.

Same bait on 15# would run about a foot maybe 2' deeper. The same bait on 10# will not run anywhere close to twice as deep as on 15#.

I like the P-Line C21 copolymer line for deep diving cranks. My go to is the 12 lb line, and it cost very little surprisingly. Check it out in the URL below.

Cajun Red mono? I think I have an idea as to why you only catch 6lb bags up there in Ohio.

I've never had an issue... I love it for cranking, it durable and abrasion resistant because if you ain't grinding it down a log, bouncing it off stumps you ain't gonna get bit... Line ain't got nuffin with the size of the bass in Ohio... Dan thumb

With those little dinks up there, you should be using 4lb line.

I've been known to drop to 4lb when we go up to St.Clair hunting smallmouth... When you can see the bottom 20 feet down and the wind isn't blowing it seems to help get a few bites... It's no secret that the Ohio River is a challenging, neglected fishery... It been documented many, many times. Just go back and look at the Cincinnati, Louisville and Pittsburgh Classic weights... Or any of the BFL's in the Buckeye or Hoosier divisions... Come on up and test your fishing skills sometimes, enter a tournament, spend the week before prefishing, preferably in July/ August so you get a taste of the heat, humidity and frustration, if you've got the guts... I don’t think you can top south texas on heat and humidity in the summer, but I’ll have to pass on the sucky fishing. I fish to actually catch something, not to be frustrated.

This is what keeps happening to me with the fc. I don’t have a problem with It but my son and wife use my stuff too and once they backlash the fc a few times It gets a kink and bam, breaks in the reel.

Was thinking mono might help being a little more resilient. 12 will work too. Just thought maybe 10 would be better to still get depth being that mono floats.

Try out 12# McCoys Mean Green. It is fantastic for moving baits and it is stronger than mono. It does not curl anything like Big Game. Big Game is a good monofilament line if that is what you want but McCoys is better.

Should have gone with McCoys Mean green in whatever # test you decide to use.
