Do y'all use a flouro leader with braided line? I typically don't when fishing my typical TX rig setup, but wondering if I should. Part of me is just lazy about tying the leader on in the first place.

I tried it a few weekends ago, seemed to work pretty well. I did end up breaking the fluoro at the end of the day, it was way past time to re-tie it though. Learn how to tie a FG knot.

The only time I will do it, is in clear water.

On all my spinning gear, I definitely do this. I only use braid on my topwater baitcast setups and never run a leader on these. I might try it one day, but never seemed to mess with fish committing to a topwater bait.

I just about always have a fluoro leader on braid. The only time I don't is when I'm throwing top water frogs.

Most of my rigs that I fish plastics on have braid with a flouro leader, I have a couple of nice rods with the micro eyes, I am switching back to flouro on those, the knot catches too much. All my spinning tackle has braid.

I use braid with a flouro leader on all of my finesse fishing. The FG knot is the only way to go. It takes a little practice but well worth it..

I do on both of spinners for ned's and shaky head. I tie a quadruple surgeon's when its windy or a double uni when the wind is low.

I've been using the Alberto knot for a little over a year now. The knot has yet to fail me so far.

I use braid to fluoro exclusively with the exception of punching. The F.G. knot should stand for F*%k this G*#$@mn knot. If you want to spend more time attempting to tie a knot that is worthless with one tiny misstep then fishing then knock yourself out but I have zero confidence in the knot even if tied correctly which BTW takes forever. The Alberto is nice and smooth but in my experience it will finally fall apart by damage not by going out during the cast but by hitting the tiny leftover tag end over and over when reeling back into your guides. Have seen it happen too many times. Bottom line. Learn the blood knot. In my opinion it is by far superior to all the others. You can cast it a trillion times through the guides and it will remain sound. If casting I will place the knot between my reel and first eye on a casting reel and just past the first guide on a spinning reel. On a casting setup that leaves me a leader approximately 6 foot long or so. I can cast it even with micros all day and not even notice it. On a spinning rod I have found that the limpness of braid attached to the stiffness of fluoro will create an interface that will catch or smash against the outside of the first guide during the cast sometimes if the knot is below the first guide which breaks the line. Its weird because it would do it on some rods and not others which is strange. Never really figured out what exactly was going on there but placing the knot just above the first guide cures that issue anyway. When pitching or flipping I use a shorter leader that never goes into the guides.

I use braid for soft plastics, jigs, top water. I use flouro leader on all of them using an Alberto knot. I have had failures at the Alberto knot but I think they all had to do with dinging the flouro when I trimmed it. I love having the feel of braid and flouro on the bottom.
