It was either Ball Four by Jim Bouton or Instant Replay by Jerry Kramer, I can’t remember which came first.
It may have been a paperback book about Bart Starr I bought in elementary school when they gave us a paper booklet to purchase books. Needless to say it was one of the three…. wink

Same here. Reading "Call of the Wild" is what sparked my desire to read. Before that, I remember my Mother reading me a story from a "Picture Bible" that my youngest niece has and read to her girls.

Lots of Louie Lamore books, and first BIG novel was the stand by Stephen King.

There are adult books/magazines, then there are "adult" books/novels/factual/biographies, etc.

My first adult books/mags I remember were Playboy, Penthouse and then I saw my first Hustler. Good grief, as a kid, it was incredible, but I know it wasn't for kids.

My first "books" were books from school, but do junior high and high school books like Animal Farm, The Scarlett Letter, The Crucible, etc., qualify as "adult books"?

If so, those were the first I remember.

...!
