Call of the wild, Then White Fang. Then everything Hemingway wrote mixed in with Patrick McManus books. Haven’t read recreationally much since.

That's what I was thinking. Best friend's stepfather got a new issue every month and kept it on the coffee table. Yes, we peeked when no adults were around.

It was either Ball Four by Jim Bouton or Instant Replay by Jerry Kramer, I can’t remember which came first. It may have been a paperback book about Bart Starr I bought in elementary school when they gave us a paper booklet to purchase books. Needless to say it was one of the three….

Not sure, but I can remember reading “Call Of The Wild” by Jack London. I also remember several of the Mark Twain books. Same here. Reading "Call of the Wild" is what sparked my desire to read. Before that, I remember my Mother reading me a story from a "Picture Bible" that my youngest niece has and read to her girls.

There are adult books/magazines, then there are "adult" books/novels/factual/biographies, etc.
My first adult books/mags I remember were Playboy, Penthouse and then I saw my first Hustler. Good grief, as a kid, it was incredible, but I know it wasn't for kids.
My first "books" were books from school, but do junior high and high school books like Animal Farm, The Scarlett Letter, The Crucible, etc., qualify as "adult books"?
If so, those were the first I remember.
