I’m heading to Lake of the Pines right now. I’m going to launch at Lakeside Park near the dam. Never been before, are there any hazards I should look out for?
Thanks

I don't know about that ramp, but take it easy on the lake. There are plenty of stumps and trees.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Thank you! I probably won’t do very much running around since I don’t know the lake well. Just going out for a few hours as I am on my way to Table Rock and Bull Shoals and have some time to kill.

Once you go above Johnson Creek I would be cautious.

Beware of the Rocky Point going into Alley Creek. Also, if you cross a bridge, be careful! If you don't do well on the south end, Pines has an amazing river flowing into it!

I was out there a few weeks ago and drove around by the dam later in the afternoon... too many folks on the water playing for me to fish that end. Let us know how it goes. cheers

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Thanks everyone for the help! We caught 3 small ones. We stayed near the dam the whole time and mainly fished a small marina and some rock banks around it. Texas rigs and squarebills. There were quite a few boats out and the waves were getting rough when we left. But the lake is beautiful and I’ll definitely be back. I may hit Wright Patman in the morning and then head up to Bull Shoals.

Do yourself a favor and go put in up north and fish, the boat lane is marked and you'll enjoy it much better.
