well if law enforcement decided to drop all charges (like in this case) I guess there would be no punishment. The robber still could walk into any bank and hypothetically rob another one. That's the issue and the only reason this thread is 9 pages long so far, because these kids are not being prosecuted. No doubt they cheated and they are wrong and they confessed, but nothing is necessarily happening to them except life time bans. All I am proposing is find a way to hold them to an agreement/contract/probationary timeframe to work their way out of the hole they created for themselves. All the meanwhile clubs could talk and have fair warning, with stipulations agreed upon in a contract, if they tried to go fish other tournaments elsewhere.

Nobody cares if they fish again. Why you so worried, better to catch them early on. They can find a new hobby.

As stated in previous post.... I think a lifetime ban is complete fine, let them sell their boats and take up golf instead. The only reason I slightly have a hint of care in the world is because I am so so close to 300 posts to get into the bunker and this has got me a few posts. Oh and because they are minors and minors do some really stupid things. If law enforcement didn't think it was bad enough to prosecute and there is a way to teach a lesson, why not try and teach a lesson.

I havent fished a tournament in years but when I did most tournaments had a rule that if you had ever been DQ'ed from ANY tournament for any reason then you could not fish their tournaments either. Thats why alot of tournament directors would allow participants to withdraw from a tournament for a minor rule infraction rather than slap them with a DQ that would affect them for the rest of their fishing lives.

Right now that DQ may sound like they got off easy to them, but these kids will have trouble finding a place to compete for the rest of their lives.

Well in that case. GOODBYE, SO LONG, FAREWELL and ban them for life!

This undermines the trust of tournament fishing to the point of me thinking that it needs to get back to what fishing was to start with, family and friends getting together for an afternoon at the lake.

And it’s probably not the kids. Higher level sports parents are some of the most insufferable people I have ever met. Kind of reminds me of a video I saw on some fishing forum (I think it was Texas) posted by some pro (Todd Castel something another). I’m sure those kids wore the pants in that boat.

No prosecution is ridiculous. Yeah ok so they are banned from TTO and THSBA. Ok whatever they can still fish whenever wherever. They need to be losing their license at a MINIMUM. Take their ability to fish away period. Me personally I don't care if their minors or not. Prosecute them. A minor steals stuff from Walmart they get arrested prosecuted, and sent to juvi. I'm not saying send these boys to juvi but dang sure prosecute them with some community service and take their license away. For how long idk. Live is to harsh imo but years for sure. Many years

The media doesn't even report the names of minors in most circumstances. We should be more responsible.

Tight lines guys.

Totally agree.

Who confirmed that they are minors? Could be an 18 year old senior in HS.

Eghhh I’d rather know a cheater before I pay my money to enter any tournament the cheaters “regardless of age” are going to be entering

The OP clearly says he DQ'd the kids for cheating.

Just a quick read through on MediaBass and they address it in rule #4
BassChamps addresses the issue in rule #10.

Fact is, it's going to take some memory by TD's and or their staff and some memory from contestants to keep these kids from fishing tournaments. If everyone forgets and they don't disclose this info prior, they will be able to pretty easliy sneak through without anyone knowing that any of this happened.

I figure they'll be fishing events again by 2024

What a shame a couple young, aspiring, #growthesport kids at their young age thought #lookatme was worth ruining their name at such a young age. Guaranteed these kids were doing it so they could get more “likes” on their social media. Just goes to show how social media is such a negative influence!

Not about being sensitive, it’s about TFF being judge, jury, and executioner. I don’t really know the whole story but I’ve seen everything from rich parents paying off people to bank robbers. It’s silly season with so many of these ridiculous posts. I never realized how perfect the older generations are…and I’m a boomer.
