So we have some deer that are pretty big pets. You can’t touch them but they ok at 5’.
Problem is with the drought they have started eating plants and shrubs around the house. Can’t shoot them and put them in the freezer, so that’s not an option.
I sprayed the plants with malathion this morning and if it lasts a week, I will spray them again next weekend. Has anybody had any good luck with any chemicals to keep deer from eating plants and shrubs???
(Besides lead)…….lol.
You can’t shoot them…..not yet at least, just wait a few months.

Put up an 8 foot barbwire fence around the acre around the house, left the rest of the property for the wildlife to come and go. Has worked out pretty well.
May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

They are starving in our area and will go after things they normally wouldn't eat in places they normally wouldn't go, it'll be hard to deter them.

Hire a bowhunter to eliminate the problem quietly.
I charge $100.00 and hour and cut and wrap the first deer for you but I keep the next deer for me. We'll play rock, paper, scissors on all the other deer.
And don't bring the law into it or else you just might get a broadhead into a non-lethal area.
Remember, most fish wouldn't get caught if they would just keep their damn mouths shut.

Our neighbors just got a cow and a calf. This morning the calf was in our back yard grazing. I wondered how it got there until I saw it casually walk over and jump the fence. I obviously underestimated the vertical lift of calves.
It's fine for now, but if it finds its way to my wife's flower beds there's gonna be trouble. Wait until you see a 1500# bull flatfoot a seven strand fence. Wanted that cow real bad.

It may be too late for this year but plant some rosemary around. Deer don't seem to like the taste or smell of it.

We live in Sun City Georgetown and have lots of deer. This year seeing more browsing in the middle of the day then ever before. They are pure devastation on rose bushes. They eat the soft ends of the bushes and nothing has a chance to grow. Our HOA usually traps between 100-150 but didn’t this year.

This is as much about their need for moisture as food. Mother Nature drives them to the greens. Deer drink very little water unless they have to.
