I've slayed 'em on Lake Meredith. The bonus is you are catching walleye at the same time. But that was many years ago. If Meredith ever comes back to 75% of what it once was, head up there for a unique and awesome fishing trip.

They first stocked Grapevine with smallies in 1999. It was my home lake back in 2008 when they started stocking them regularly. I lived right by the lake and kept my Skeeter, kayaks and a few other things at Dove Loop Storage. We moved to East Texas in 2010 and I never got to catch a smallie on Grapevine.

Fall time into winter is good at Texoma.


You have to hunt for them, they move a lot. But when you find them you can catch them pretty good.
