Hey guys,
I posted this in another section but didn't get any help...so I'm going to the experts smile

When I lived in Iowa I would regularly go out at night and collect nightcrawlers. I was out in my backyard the other night looking for some and didn't see a thing. The ground is obviously wet enough....are there nightcrawlers down here?

Thank you Lord for the gifts in my life

Ryno , if you can find a sandy wet spot around, you can look for little red wigglers, I've found them for years and bred some for a while, now I just dig em up when I need some, they are great for perch/bream, but i have bunched them up and caught lot's with them... happy hook's-- Hammerhead

Think you're too far south for crawlers. Could send you some but with the plane delays, they would melt.

Ofart....where in Iowa are you? I'm originally from the Mason City area...moved here a few years ago.

It's funny because a few days after I put this post on here about not being able to find nightcrawlers down here....my son and I were walking back (mid morning) the 4th of July parade and I found 3 nightcrawlers on the ground. They looked exactly like the ones from up north...lol

I guess you just have to get in the right area. I'll stick to buying them at wal mart smile

Throw some Seven-Dust out where you are looking for them, then they should surface... thumb

Going west out of my hometown of Riceville, there is a mileage sign for Osage...Mason City and Estherville. smile Not sure why they put Estherville on there because I think it's quite a ways to the West.

I hope to move back up there in a few years. I sure miss it.

Ryno,

I used to sell nightcrawlers when I lived in Iowa. It was easy pickin's at night up there after a good rain. I've tried to do the same thing here in Texas and it's just not happening. I rely on Wally World for my crawlers now.
