OK guys, I'm not a snake lover by any means. I found this guy tangled up in the netting used to keep grass seed in place. I pinned his head down and cut him free. He had fangs because in the struggle he bit himself and sorta got hung up on his back. He also vibrate his tail very quickly but I didn't see anything the remotely looked like rattles... He was probably 3 foot long... That's his head in the upper right hand corner of the picture... Any guesses??? ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-28532-146911-snake.jpg) And yes he is slithering through the woods next to the garage as we speak... Looks like a rat snake...I would have second guess cotton mouth due to darker pattern.
Does your hand burn and any swelling where you were bit?

Appears to be a demorat snake - this aberrant sub-species tends to bite itself when afraid. A mostly peaceful snake.

Rat snakes have fanglike teeth in the back, but no pronounced dual fangs like venemous snakes. He may be angry because he was caught, but he's a good'un to have around.
