It was hot, but we can't catch fish inside the house so we headed to Amistad. It's looking sadder than the last time we were there, but the fish are still biting. We found a few sunfish on nest good eating size.

All fish were caught on JIGLYF jigs. Most fish were released to swim another day.

Side note: if anyone goes to Amistad please becareful there's lots of island just below the surface of the water.

I took a lower unit out many years ago when the lake was about as low as it is now. As you mentioned the islands are so shallow now that submerged reefs between the islands are waiting to cause major damage. We were coming out of the Box Canyon when it happened.

Thank you Chuck thumb

As for the W Prong, it is dropping. Half of it is dry.

Up at the front there is still water, but the big rocks are starting to show. Fourth of July weekend we got 1 1/2 and that brought the river up for a while.

It wasn't a Mercury LU was it? There's a reef to the left as you hit the Rio Grande, we found one there.
Here's Box Canyon

Back then there was no useable ramp at the Box so had to launch off the bank which was fine until I took the prop and the skeg off. So hobbled back to Diablo which was about like it is now! Really sad because we normally use Black Brush and its not close to the water!

Good to see you two on the water. Nice fish! I like Leo's hat! Between the heat. respiratory crud and dermatology my summer has been wasted. Derm cut cancers liberally from both hands and my right upper arm Stiill have ;lots of precancers to treat but requires putting a cream on which blisters affected areas and I am going to wait untill temps drop some. Stay safe out there.

My lower unit was on a 150 HP Johnson on a 21’6 Center Console. Luckily the insurance paid! It is a really sick feeling when it happens but spare props can save the day.
