That was meant to harm you or those around you? How did you react?
Obviously, our Vets can certainly chime in. I'm interested in it all. Random John Q Public's reaction is what I'm really after here though. If you were scared s**tless, say so. If you were Billybada**, say so.

At Lone Star Oyster Bar in Arlington in the late 90's, a guy shot 3 people right inside the restaurant at the front door there while we were having a few beers with my brother who was in town on leave from US Army. Right there for everyone in the joint to see.

Some people hid behind tables, some people were in shock and didn't really move. Little bro, me, and the wife ran through the kitchen out the back door. Not a single person in the restaurant charged the gunman. All 3 guys lived and the gunman fled but was caught. Apparently the 3 guys, all of whom I knew very loosely, bowed up on the guy and he wasn't having it and went and got his gun and shot all 3.

That’s a real life account of when keeping it real goes wrong.

Probably 1993, I was on call down in Houston. Had to run some parts to a job around 2:00AM in the GreensPoint area. I got lost and had to use the pay phone to get directions to the plant I was delivering an electric motor to. While I was on the phone, someone started shooting at a person who was on the other side of the payphone I was talking on. I dropped the receiver and had to run in the general direction of the person shooting to get out of there. I got in the Barney Fife crouch position and did the duck walk, side to side as fast as I could duck walk.

By the time I made it to the plant, they had another company deliver the motor. They said they heard the gunfire on the phone and didn’t think I’d be showing up.

I’m headed to Gunspoint tomorrow. It’s a lovely area.

2 months ago, sitting at the gate at work, punching in my code to get in. Happen to see a black Navigator rolling slow down Brentwood Stair Rd. in Ft. Worth. Heard about 15 shots ring out directly behind me and the ting ting ting of the empty shells. All I could really do was duck down a bit in my seat and wait for the gate to open. Sadly it's a common occurrence over there, I just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Pulled in and checked myself. It's funny, this is a gated apartment complex and yet, it has the worst crime out of all our complexes. This particular complex is the reason I got my LTC years ago. About a mile to the west of us is a hot spot for sex offenders. I just want to strafe that place with Napalm. Had to go check something and walked around a back corner of a building one time, there was a homeless guy leaning up against a condenser unit dropping a load in broad daylight. I've only had to draw one time, thankfully. Homeless white guy was hanging out under a stairwell and he got belligerent with me and was lying through his tooth. He would not cooperate and had to call the police. Before they got there he got angry and I ended up having to force him out before he hurt me, my manager or any of the tenants. I'm not a cop. I'm not trained like a cop. My hands were sweating so bad in that situation, I ended up installing basically sand paper for grips on that carry gun.

I really, REALLY, hate my job.

Had people on an adjacent property (in the country) shooting over our heads inadvertently, we could hear the rounds whistle as they went overhead. They finally heard us shouting at them and they stopped

I had someone shoot at me from a pickup on the road, fired several shots over my head and sped off. It's a unique sound for sure. Never did find them or why they shot at me.

When I was a teenager I had a neighbor one year older than me. To say he was one French Fry Short of a Happy Meal is an understatement, dude was crazy. His whole family were avid hunters and did their on reloading. He decided he would scare me and loaded a 12GA shell with nothing but powder and wadding. Called me up and told me he had a new shotgun he wanted to show me. I am walking up his driveway and he jumps out of the bushes, points the shotgun and pulls the trigger. Hit me in the groin and I did a complete flip in the air and landed on my back knocking me out. He thought he had killed me. Funny thing is I remember seeing the blast of the gun, the wadding coming at me, and my flip but I do not remember hearing the sound. I know it had to be loud I just don't remember hearing it.
