I'm no expert at bug killin'', gassin', or splatter mashin', but I'm about to move into a rural house that is now LOADED with wasps. It hasn't been occupied for a few years now and pretty much all of the eave underside panels are totally dilapidated and need replacing. Ever since, the vermin have moved in like it's the grand hyatt, making their stupid homes on every splinter of uncovered wood in the roof and attic space. I'm going to spend the next couple weeks replacing the under panels, but before I start cutting hardie board I want to first Stalin these suckers into oblivion. What's the best way to approach this? Can I grab a box full of those fogger things and chuck them in like hand grenades? Can I act like the ghostbusters inside the bowels of lady freedom and slime everything with wasp spray? Pool rod + tape + flat bar to rip the panels down? Someone give me some hope, or otherwise this house might just spontaneously burn to the ground.

Get a backpack sprayer and fill it with water and dawn liquid soap mix. Go to town on those suckers!

I'll also add that we found a snake skin IN THE HALLWAY (inside the house!!). I have no clue how that happened since there isn't any obvious access to the outside, but I suspect it may have something to do with the panels hanging 6" off of the eaves.

Are you doing it by yourself? If not, have someone spraying the area with a hose and one of those attachment sprayer bottles full of soap. They can't fly when covered with soapy water.

Edit: Notaguide beat me to it

Now why didn't this pop up when I entered "HOW TO GET RID OF WASPS" in youtube? I darn nearly spent $19 on a single can of recommended wasp spray.

Would a car foam cannon work? And would this hurt the wood?

You are going to need this link.

When we bought this house it had been vacant for several years. Same problem. Spiders and scorpions as well. Frankly, I've never seen so many freakin spiders in my life. Ever.
Spent half a day with a 4 gal backpack sprayer and I think Tempo SC and it knocked down a huge portion of them. Took forever.

After that, I bought a gas powered mister blower things and cut the time down to 1/10 that for pest control. It was something like THIS.

I'm not sure to be honest - what I was thinking was along the lines of a cone of water with some soap in it. I think you need more water than soap, so if you can adjust that thing to spray soapy water as opposed to spraying watery soap then it will probably work. You don't really need much soap, just a light coating will knock them down. As hot as it is right now, as long as you're just quickly spraying and not soaking the remaining wood, it will probably evaporate before it gets a chance to soak in - I doubt it would damage anything.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Even has TURBO in the name.

I may actually think about this, considering there's a couple other buildings on the property that could use a mortal touch too.

if you have a pressure washer use it on soap setting, should have enough power to get up high.

Similar situation for me, rural house vacant for a while. But, it was rattlesnakes living under the house that outdid the wasps and scorpions. I didn't think they could live under a slab house but they did. I killed 5 before I figured it out, then used a couple of cans of spray foam to block any small opening. No more snakes after that.
BTW, a 6-foot rattler in your garage will get your attention.

It's just a bug, swat it down and squash it.
