Offshore can be intimating without good chart study, electronics and time on water exploring.

I just go with whatever my gut says. I figured out you can't force them to do something they aren't doing so I poke around here or there and won't get locked in to anything until I find a good pattern. It's much more enjoyable than trying to force something and wondering why it isn't working. Not that I don't get a whooping time to time but I feel like I'm at a point where if given 3 days on a lake I can find something decent.

Me too....after 3 days I have usually found the best ramp to launch at, the nearest mexican food restaurant, the cheapest gas station. Oh right, the fish, na still wont have a freaking clue where they are...

Shallow water junk fishing. Just put the trolling motor down and fish what's in front of me. I don't have the patience just go graphing and looking for fish for very long. I'd rather fish and cover water trying to find them. This time of the year I'll try a little more offshore.

i always let the fish tell me... but I always start shallow and work my way out, if the shallow bite is on then because that is my wheelhouse I will stay there till it dries up... I have my pet baits on deck, pitching stick is always the first to come out - 3/8 Jig, pistol grip with a 1/4 oz spinnerbait, another pistol grip with a 1/4 or 1/8 oz buzz bait, a cranking rod with a square bill, and a pop'r or small spook, I can junk fish around any cover to see what they are doing...if an hour or two passes with little reaction then its dig in the box for a medium running crank bait and a worm rod and start on the 10+ foot areas, and if that fails pull out the deep crank bait setup and the spoon...if that fails then its time to grab a taco... LOL

I love both. I tend to catch bigger fish when I find them out deep. Jig fishing is my fav.

Mostly shallow for me. This one came from a foot or less, 10" Culprit. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-3480-145254-full_3480_18911_2017_04_14_10_35_51.jpg) This one came from 4ft on a drop shot. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-3480-145255-img_0077.jpg) Both 11+ Caught a few 10+ in 10-12ft.

Shallow and would rather catch fish on a buzz bait, spinner bait, weightless fluke or senko, or Texas rig plastic than anything else. I like to junk fish!
See you on the lake and have a great day!

I much prefer to fish deep. Big jig, big worm, or C-rig in my hands out on a ledge and I’m just about as happy as can be fishing, with exception of spawn and I’m flipping at a big ole slaunch donkey…..

It got hot around noon and from about 1:30 on I sat in Oak RIdge Restaurant and observed it from the air conditioning. Getting back in a bass boat has made it a challenge and so far the fish are winning. I wasn't doing so bad fishing out of a jon boat. Just didn't realize it when I had it.
