I have no problem with PSA, but I tend to label them as a "good enough" gun.

I've got one complete build from them, and I've got various parts on other guns. It is not the best, smoothest, most accurate gun in my stable. But I've also never worried that it would jam up on me or fail to fire either.

If you are the guy that wants to geek out on a gun build and try every trigger/upper/barrel, etc. until you make your perfect shooting machine... PSA is probably not for you.

If you are on a budget, or perhaps just dipping your toes in the build-your-own-gun world, then PSA is a pretty easy place to start.

Just looked and this deal is not on their website that I can see. In fact no lowers either in AR 15.

I have a fixed handle rifle length upper I'd like to replace with a flat top carbine length. Its an old stop sign oly, so their fit and finish would be fine. I like their prices.

Was wanting to build a 7.62x39 pistol and almost bought the upper and lower for it all. Been debating it for months now.

Somewhere on the internet is a video of a guy burning up a PSA upper by running it on a full auto lower. Took about 400 or 500 rounds to melt that upper down. The hand guards melted and caught fire, the gas tube warped and I think the barrel warped. I doubt anybody here will be running a full auto lower so the upper should be OK for a standard build. I had one of their lowers and it was perfectly acceptable. Just make sure you get some anti-walk pins for the lower.

The barrel for a full auto is much thicker. I know someone who did the same.

400-500 rounds sounds like it held up pretty well for a barrel that was not made for full auto. Not sure how that stacks up against other mfg's? Bottom line is every barrel has a mechanical limit it can withstand. Put enough rounds through it and you can find that limit.

You have to wonder about a guy that is willing to burn up a thousand dollar bill just to make a youtube video. Think PSA donated it for him, or the ammo company?

Good point bigbob about the barrel. I owned a full auto M16A2 years ago and it defiantly had a thicker barrel than the uppers I see today. What was fun to do was swap the upper for a HB MG style upper and throw a 100 round Cmag on it and let folks have a go with it. Of course back then a 1000 rounds of ammo was maybe $125.00....:)

I bought a PSA upper last year and put it on a Anderson lower for my Grandson. It works great. I have also gone the other
Way and put Anderson Areo uppers on the PSA lowers, they work well also.
