I've got a family gathering friday eve and have been asked to cook for it. Burgers and dogs. I need about 30 burgers. Does anyone use the frozen patties that come from say sams or HEB or such that are of better quality?? TIA.

I had the ones from Sam's at a bass tourney couple months back, they doctored them up pretty good and they were fine. Or maybe they were fine because I was starving and they were free. Either way they got the job done.

Get the bigger, thicker ones. Worth the price.

Most importantly, Do No OVER COOK Them. Grill them until they are just barely getting done (little or no pink) then get them off the heat.

If not, they will turn into little shrunken hockey pucks.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

Sam's Angus is excellent. Cook from frozen. When it waters up on top, flip it.

They need to be seasoned up. Tony Chachere's is my go-to. Easiest way to do it is hit them on the frozen side when you first drop on the grill. Then hit the other side after the flip.

The frozen patties usually drip a lot as they thaw so have a squirt bottle handy for flare ups. It will be a smokey grill too, so keep your grill position and wind direction in mind.

Used to use the pre-made patties. Now use 90% lean ground beef mixed with breakfast sausage and seasoned with Eskimo Joe's Fry Mix - about 75/25 beef to sausage. Very flavorful burgers.

This ^^^^^

Sprinkle them with Uncle Chris Steak Seasoning and do not smash them. Flip once and get them off the heat.

Best advise yet. Probably good advise for a family reunion regardless of what you are cooking.

The last time I did burgers for a group of 12 I used heb 1/3 lb beef burger patties, sprinkle on some Texas BBQ rub, and tossed them on the grill. They were some great burgers, but the sangria spiked with tequila made it all so much better.

It’s just a hamburger. Don’t over think it.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.
