I have the Seastream 120 peddle drive yak and I love it. But….it’s just so dang heavy, It’s great for long trips, but I’d like to possible get a small, spur of the moment yak. Maybe a 10 foot sink. No electronics, just a quick throw a boat in the car and go kind of boat for a 1 hour trip. What should I start looking at?

Wilderness Commander 120 is a good choice if you can find one...

They stopped making them about 5 years ago. I like them a lot. They are simple, light and have a second seat on top so you can get a better vantage point in calm waters.

Not sure what you mean by spur of the moment. If you are willing to order one Eddyline and Cresent kayaks are known for being light with Cresent being much more economical then Eddyline. If you want to run down to the store and grab one on the way to the water Pelican kayaks are usually pretty light. The Keeper 100x is right at 40 lbs and under $400 out the door for a basic, no frills, lightweight kayak. 10 footers in general are just hard to paddle in the any wind.

Depending on your size the ocean kayak speck or scrambler is a great kayak. Light weight about 40-50 lbs and not slow. They are 11ft 6in. I have had one for 10 years atleast and still bring it out often.

My "go to" kayak for small waters is the perception pescador pro 10'. Got is used for 350. It sees a lot more seat time than my 12'er. I had a SINK just for that reason. When I capsized (and you will), it was very difficult to re-enter. I steer clear of the SINKs for kayak fishing. Lots of cheap SOTs can be had to fill your bill.

If you've ever been in one with waves crashing over the bow or in sporty water I think you'd probably agree with that term.

I'd check FB. I've gotten a few good priced yaks from there.

Perception Pescador 10'. I had 2 of these and they are great for exactly what you just said and an easy paddling yak.

that would have been my suggestion as well for a sit on top.. 60 lbs cheers
I had an RTM Disco (hard to find in Texas) that I used for when I was not going to be out all day and wasn't taking much gear and only two rods. Wished I'd never sold it. Only weighed 55 lbs and at 15' and 25" wide, was a rocket compared to most sit on tops 12 years ago and to this day. Still being made in France and maybe still dealers in Florida. They sold for about $600 new back then.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Having an inflatable kayak provides several advantages:
Light weight—easy portage
Easy transportation—trunk or backseat
Convenience

They do not track well and get blown around in the wind; but, I use mine all the time instead of the PA12 on small bodies of water and situations when easy portage is a priority (lifting over rails, etc)
