Fishing slowed down this week due to the effects of tropical cyclone "Celia", the wind and the swell is moving the fishing.

Marlin
Most fish being caught at the 95 spots and the lighthouse, most of them on live bait and ballyhoo. We released 1 marlin on Sunday and 1 on Friday.

Dorado
Few dorado at the 95 spot and Lighthouse on hoochies and lures, small fish and some big guys are starting to show.

Tuna
Showing up the last few days, not big fish at La Herradura on cedar plugs and hoochies.

Wahoo
Few Wahoo reports at the 95 spot on ballyhoo and lures.

Rooster
No reports.

Inshore
Good numbers in the first days of the week for sierras, few small snapper and amberjacks, but slowed down in the last days due to the effects of the tropical storm.

WEATHER:
The next 14 day outlook for Cabo San Lucas shows the average daytime maximum temperature will be around 32°C, with a high for the two weeks of 34°C expected on the afternoon of Saturday 2nd. The average minimum temperature will be 26°C, dipping to its lowest on the morning of Sunday 26th at 25°C. Expect the coming 14 days to have mixed overhead conditions with some days dry and some seeing a significant amount of rain. Current predictions suggest Sunday 26th will have the most precipitation with an accumulation of around 26.0mm. On the whole winds are likely to be moderate.

Korean-Style Seared Tuna

INGREDIENTS
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon dried red-pepper flakes
1/2 cup canned low-sodium chicken broth or homemade stock
4 tuna steaks, about 1 inch thick (about 2 pounds in all)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 teaspoon Asian sesame oil
1 scallion including green top, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1
In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, sugar, red-pepper flakes, and broth. Sprinkle the fish with the salt and black pepper. Heat the cooking oil in a large frying pan over moderately high heat. Add the tuna and cook until brown, about 3 minutes. Turn and cook the fish until done to your taste, 3 to 4 minutes longer for medium rare.

Step 2
Reduce the heat to moderately low and put the sesame oil in the pan. Stir in the scallion and garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the soy-sauce mixture; simmer until reduced to approximately 1/3 cup, about 2 minutes. Cut the tuna into slices and serve with the sauce.


SUMMER TENTALIZER
Blood Orange Cocktail

INGREDIENTS
8 oz dry white wine 1 cup
2 oz vodka 4 tablespoons
2 oz Grand Marnier 4 tablespoons
6 oz blood orange juice 3/4 cup
2.5 oz simple syrup 5 tablespoons, or more to taste

INSTRUCTIONS
Mix all ingredients, add ice, blood orange slices to decorate. Serve.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report.
