Got skunked on catching the wife a catfish dinner last week on Lake Raven/Huntsville State Park out of a canoe. Using last year's shad press-on bait and real chicken livers (the turtles loved the chicken, btw). In the past, blood flavor did well for small 'uns and shad for 20+" flathead (tastes great fried and I don't like catfish!) Swapped canoe for a kayak so July's trip will be different...and hopefully I can get deeper than the 4' deep cove the dang 20 mph wind kept me and the canoe stuck in. Lot of gators so I'm kinda worried about cut perch lol last little gator I "caught" was just chasing my yellow bobber! I fish with a light weight under a small bobber, watch for the bobber to run a foot or two then go under then set the treble hook with a spring on it. Can't even find the right size treble + spring at Academy for 3 straight years now - just smaller ones. Canoe moved too much for leaving it on the bottom. The cats used to run up and down the hydrilla edge...until they killed the hydrilla and I got skunked once last year, too! I'm not a catfish guy, never have been, so never learned...any help for a newbie kayaker for what actually works in Texas? Houston'ish?

I had 2 guys on the boat today for 4 hrs. They caught roughly 150 and kept 50 using Stubby’s Cheesebait. That is on Lake Fork in 24ft. I have no idea about your lake.
