5.7 and 6.4 ltr both.

Valve rattle upon startup. Ours started after our first oil change ironically.

Im not sure there is a Hemi that doesn't tick on startup.

2013 5.7 Hemi no tick yet at 81K.

Interesting, this must be a Dodge and AMC thing. My wife had a 14 Jeep Grande Cherokee and it would tick. My brother has an 02 1500 with the small V8 and it ticks.

Had a tick on a jeep motor. The tick got heads replaced twice, then a complete motor… all before 50k miles. After the new motor, jeep offered a lifetime power train warranty. I told them I didn’t want to do this for the rest of my life. I told them that the Toyota dealership across the street now owned that POS.

Make sure it’s not an exhaust leak at the manifold. Mine did it twice before I got rid of it. Supposedly broken bolts is what they said.

My 2020 Ram 1500 does it only on start up for a few seconds.

I thought this was gonna be like a new version of lyme disease, whew!

Apparently it is a real thing - upon startup only.

We just started hearing it right after our first oil change coincidentally.

So I checked the dipstick and it didn’t register

They towed it to their shop and drained the oil in front of me. It was a quart and a half low



Probably trade it in before the warranty runs out now.

I just traded in a hemi with 150K miles. It's been ticking since almost new. Kept waiting for it to go pop, but never did.

I had a 2003 hemi that had the tick. Still as good as new after 15 years and 150,000 miles of ticking when I traded it for another Hemi Ram. There's countless posts in the Ram Forum on hemi tick and cures for it.

M brother in law had it, kept driving until it went down with a flat cam lobe....
