Any suggestions for a cast net for someone with a bad shoulder? I have a Bait Buster 7 foot with 1.5#/foot net and its too heavy with a recent shoulder injury I had. I’m recovering but need something lighter. Any thoughts on the Fitec EZ throw net? Should I use a 6’ 1# net?

You just need a fishing buddy. Advertise for a young fellow with a good shoulder.

My net hurts my shoulder too. Hard to be an old fisherman.

I have the Fitec with the aluminum ring in it, very easy to throw. If shoulder is just finished, you may want to switch hands
you throw with. Fitec is so simple, you should be throwing like a pro with just a little practice even with off hand. Smaller nets usually have fewer weights due to smaller perimeter, so downsizing may just help you out, good luck-Mike

I think you're on the right track,6 footer at 1lb of weight per radius foot.I throw a 7' at 1.5 lbs...........there are days I wish I had my old 6'r at 1 lb with me

Definitely an EZ Throw, I know a couple guys that have them, and they can throw it left or right-handed.

I also have a shoulder injury which keeps me from playing golf and made it difficult to use my net. I use a 7 ft. 1.5 lb. per ft. I am right handed and used to rotate counter-clockwise. I now rotate clockwise. This is so much easier and gets a great pancake 99.5 percent of the time. I have tried to teach this to some friends of mine and they just don't get it. I think they try to spin the net and throw to hard. The net does not have to spin and an easy toss is the key. I have inserted a youtube link. You can Google Gale Force twins, they use a modified version. I find it easier to use this technique. I have had expensive Black Pearl nets, but I now use Fitec for their economical value. I always want to use the largest legal net I can. After all, 50% open of 7 ft. is larger than 50% open of 6 ft.

I like a Fitec net they are easy to cast and economical. I use a simple throwing style that is easy to learn and doesn’t take much effort to throw. A 6’ net would be lighter than a 7’ net and would save you some effort but potentially require more throws. Using your Panoptix to find shad is helpful too since you will only need a couple of throws…

This is how I use the Panoptix. I have a second graph up front if I’m fishing solo…
