No, as long as you use some modest protection you will be fine.

Some of the "Solar Shingle" type ones are interesting and some look like a regular roof. Thought about it in 2019 when we put a new roof on, but none of the roofers in our area wanted to touch it, mostly because most suppliers at that time were back-ordered on all the product. But, they didn't want to do a metal roof either. Maybe by the next time I need to put a roof on they will be worth it. My area is so stone age. I can't even find anyone that wants to install a whole house generator within 90 miles.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

You dont spend any based on your numbers, there is nothing to save.

I don’t even know why they bother sending him a bill, it’s like he’s off the grid.

We have a solar bank ground mounted that is about 100 yds. behind the house. It has a fence built around it so it is not visible from the house. We are actually producing more than we are using, but still get a bill for Oncor charges. We didn't do the battery bank, It was just a little more expensive to go with the whole home generator system and it works great as we have crappy power delivery out here. Every time it storms we are without power.

He also claimed they were warranty covered for 25 years and that they would produce at least 95% of the power they did on day one. My electric bills run from $45 in the winter. spring, fall to $150 in the summer. These panels would cost about $20,000 or about $80/mo.

How do you have that low of an electric bill, do you just sit in the dark and fan yourself all day.

My house is well insulated, has new windows (previous owners put them in), and I keep the AC at 76-78 (and use ceiling fans) during the summer and it's set at 65 in the winter. I'm home all day and during the summers have two kids here also. Our house is just over 2400sqft. We have gas heat and water heaters.

76-78°?!?! Why do you hate being comfortable in your own house? It’s not that your house is efficient, it’s that you don’t use the AC. Are you 85 years old?

We were backordered on the solar panels until last September, and we are still backordered on the batteries. Solar by itself won't keep the lights on in case the power goes out. You need the battery backups.

Try Signature Solar in Sulphur Springs. They have batteries.

Ours is 74 at night/early morning then programmed gradually to 76 during the hottest part of the day. 72 in the day and 68 at night is just not really comfortable to me. I am usually doing something outside to get sweaty every day so after a shower 76 is fine to me with shorts and a t-shirt and ceiling fans.

I just checked and our last CoServ bill was $88 but house is only about 1600 square feet.
