My Grandpa, my dad, and I went down to fish the Lake Livingston Ducktracker Slab White Bass Tournament this weekend. We camped in the Lake Livingston State Park which is really nice and we pre-fished on Friday from about 7am to 6pm and then fished the tournament on Saturday from 6:30 until about noon. On Friday we fished the South part of the lake and it was pretty slow until mid-morning and then we started catching them pretty good on a main lake point in about 10-15 FOW and a main lake hump in about 25 FOW. We were using the MAL and the Mepps #4 using the Mepps technique or sawtooth method. In the afternoon we found fish in a few more spots in about 20 FOW and used the same lures and methods. After we would catch 10-20 fish in a spot we would move on to save the fish for the tournament. Total count for Friday was 104 including a couple of small stripers. Saturday was basically the same and at 10am we only has a couple of keepers but then we found a big school on side scan in 20 FOW on a slope and turned on the thumper and splasher and it was game on! We caught about 100 fish over the next hour and half on the MAL and Mepps #4. We caught a couple of 15 inchers and several 14 inchers. When it slowed down, we tried one more spot and then went back to the weigh in. We managed to finish in 2nd place with 14 lbs 3 oz! Congrats to our friend Dewayne Bullard who got 3rd place. Our big fish was 1 lb 12 oz and was a little below the big fish winner of 1 lb 15 oz. We had a great time and the Ducktracker folks put on a great tournament with good food, cold drinks, and awesome raffle prizes … I won a new rod & reel and my dad won a new fillet knife! We will be back next year for sure!! Yep. We got first place last year but came up a little short this year. There were 45 teams of up to 4 people.

Great job Lincoln congratulations y’all always show up and show out . Livingston has been fishing great .we caught small fish early then hit a hump around 9 am and culled fish for a couple hours , we had to move around the hump to stay on them. Like y’all we had a couple 15 inches and mostly 14’s our big fish was 1lb. 12 oz. Also most of our fish were caught on Ducktracker Slabs and Texan Teaser. Big fish overall was a 3 way tie at 1lb. 15oz. . 12 ounces separated first and third . It was a heck of good time with 45 teams .

Nice report and great event again this year! First and second are impressive consistent results. My dad and team won it this year and took third last year. I heard there was a three way tie for big fish. Pretty crazy. I am shocked that no fish broke the 2 pound mark.
Lake Livingston has exceptional quality white bass this year as there have been no major floods for past three years or so. I told dad it would likely take a limit of 15"+ fish to win that tourney this year and that's what they found. Lot's of small striper in the lake so fingers crossed for no floods and keepers next year!
Early mornings have been slow with fish loading up on main lake structure by 9:30 or 10:00. As the heat of the summer sets in the mid lake area will really start to show out with early am surfacing action.
Nice job Dewayne as well! You guys put in the time! Great group of anglers on Lake Livingston these days.

I had a great time there @ the DUCK TRACKER tournament. I must say I have never fished a white bass tournament but have fished every largemouth bass tournament known to man all across Texas and other states. The opportunity came up so me and my nephew jumped on it. Very well ran tournament I would like to thank directors, volunteers, and gift donators ' you guys did an excellent job. We have been practicing for this deal past 3 weeks checking points, old traditional spots, and places where we catch them bass fishing. The weekend started during the Thursday evening @ Kickapoo bait and tackle when I placed 4th with a 3.07 LM my nephew placed 5th with the 3.00 LM total pay was a little over 1300$ roughly. Saturday, we place 4th with 13-10 in the white bass deal out of beautiful Beacon Bay marina and split big bass of 1-15 three ways which ended up 365$ or something a piece plus 315$ for 4th and a 75$ cooler for a draw prize. Sunday fished cranky hookers Lm derby out of Kickapoo marina Placing 3rd. Very successful weekend on a lake I learned a lot of my fishing long ago. We caught WB on fire tiger crankbaits and H2O and Bomber spoons in 8-10 ft. Saw plenty of fish caught on a DT spoon that I'm made a believer after the weekend and thank you DT for a well ran derby. I did notice something to think about, we would pull up on a traditional spot and catch immediately when no other boats were around and when another boat pulled by us and turned a thumper on the fish turned off. Above all else thank you GOD for your beautiful creation, and all vets there for our freedom.

Nice job there, Lincoln! As you know, our water here in Central Texas is very clear. I've never fished Livingston but have heard it is almost always stained. Curious what lure color you chose, and if you chose it due to the water color, or for some other reason?

--Bob Maindelle The water on Lake Livingston varies from month to month and from year to year. However right now the on the lower portion of Livingston the east side which is the side of the lake that DT tournament came out of is what locals call Livingston green to clear or the famous AKA trout green, west side stain to sandy green which was starting to streak more towards green on Saturday. Livingston water is real similar to upper portions of cow house creek on Belton or around 36 bridge up river, but know where close or ever to lower portion of Belton and stillhouse clarity. As for color, you can catch em on any as long as the school was fired up feeding or dropped on a stragglers head . But one particular color and size counted for all 10 bigger fish we weighed , I'm curios to hear Lincolns details because there average was good as well. And congrats on all winners.

H&H, I would agree with your description of the water on Livingston and congratulations on a very successful weekend of fishing! Mr. Maindelle, my grandpa and dad used the Mepps #4 Plain Aglia most of the time and I mostly used the MAL with white bottom, silver body, and yellow blade. The reason I chose that one is that I tried a few different color combinations and that seemed to get the most bites ... trial and error! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/06/full-117471-142498-mal.jpg)
