Going down in two weeks to stay just north of the state park. Doing a long weekend with the family but wanted to throw some fishing gear in.
About 10 years ago we went down and the recommendation here was to focus on the Horace Caldwell pier and Jetty’s. Only thing I managed was some catfish and some tiny sheepshead.
Would love to get into something edible but have to work around the family trip so can only put in time first thing in the morning or in the evening.
Read a few recent posts that talk about working around the wind. We have easy beach access but not sure what walking access I’ll have to the bay side of the island.

If this weather pattern holds, it's dead calm at daylight. Surf should flat and very fishable.

Surf at first light if you can get there for sure. Tail on 1/4oz jig head. Chicken on the Chain color. You should be able to catch some nice trout.
Also throw a top water such as a bone spook.
