Every once in a while it sounds like air brakes release.
Before I make the dealer miserable is this normal? If it is what is it?

Blowoff valve or wastegate. It’s a forced-induction engine. Normal

yep, releases pressure when it is not needed.

I'm surprised was wastegate isn't fed back into the intake.

Have a 3.5, gravymakers grocery wagon that never made that noise. Two previous 3.5’s didn’t either.

I will say that little motor is sure peppy. It’ll run off and hide from the hemi I just turned in. Haven’t had the opportunity to see if it’s got the 100 mph limiter. Hope not.

It's eager for more at 105... I am not. Gets a bit of under steer over 90. To say the least.

But it's down for 110+.

Normally a wastegate opens a valve in the turbine side that lets exhaust gas bypass the wheel. It goes back into the exhaust on the low pressure side.

I run 75,000 miles a year. My last gubment motors was my last gubment motors ever. Come with me after a 3,000 mile week and you can easily see which one you'd run too.

2.7 ecoboost tops out at 105-106 stock. Plenty of peddle to go faster, but the speed limiter doesn't allow it without a tune. My 2018 V8 is tuned to 130. I have only made it to 125.
