I was fortunate enough to be able to goto Alaska this week to visit my sister and her hubby. Theres a place to fish everywhere you look it seems. Some of the funnest fishing was in downtown anchorage at ship creek (who woulda thunk lol) but the russian river was pretty cool too, very beautiful but shoulder to shoulder with anglers. The King Salmon im holding i caught at Thunderbird falls and the Irish lord was caught out of cooks inlet while halibut fishing. I thought the Irish lord was very cool, crazy looking fish. All in all, its been a great trip full of breathtaking views and wonderful weather. I will deffinately have to come back again.

Thats a good sized Irish Lord you got there! I read that they only get to 21-22 inches fully grown...

Are the Irish Lord's dorsal spines poisonous? Alot of fish in that family have the poisonous spines. I had a Lion Fish in my aquarium. He IS ugly...

thx for comments, yes the lord did have spines which i suppose are poisonious ( i was careful not to find out lol ). my rod is laying on the bank in the salmon pic, layed it down to wash the fish off for the pic. this fish was about the 5th or 6th one i hooked into before finally landing one. These brutes were some really hard fighting fish that just didnt seem to wear out, they would take off like a torpedo whenever you got one on. it was a blast tho.Heres a few more pics of the scenery etc.

this is a couple pics of some salmon from ship creek, the smallest one in there is 30+ lbs

heres a few more of the scenery etc,

heres a pic of my nephew, he did great halibut fishing. he caught the first, the most and the biggest! sure was proud of him.
