Dad and I went down Tuesday. Walked the Jetties as far as we could. Using spoons and soft plastics we did not get a sniff. Caught one catfish on shrimp. Probably could have caught more with better fresh bait but was tired from the walking. Google had it at 1.7 miles one way. Water looked green and nice.

Main reason for the trip was Snapper meat. Went out with Galveston party boats 12 hour trip . 4.2 hours out. Straight south from Galveston. Water was blue and I believe was around 140 foot deep. The boat said opening day prior was slow but they did manage a limit. They carried us out further. First spot was on fire. Boat provided squid which was alot better than the cigar minnows we brought. As soon as the bait hit the bottom it was fish on. Most Snapper were keepers with some really nice fish. They didn't want to burn there spot so we went to another spot. Much slower getting keepers. Current was alot stronger, dolphins were present on the surface, 3 different times I got spooled from Im sure shark. Finished day on that spot. With around 85 fisherman we managed full limit and a handful of vermillion snapper. Probably caught over 30 snapper between dad and my self. Only had probably 3.5 hours of fishing with the travel time. For $135 bucks each, deff worth it.

Yep. 100ish miles offshore. Constant action once there catching snapper after snapper. Bait, tackle and rigging included. Crew prepped everything and scrubbed the boat afterwards. Worth every penny. There was a guy on the boat who said he had his own boat but with the cost of diesel its to cheap not to go on the party boats. I looked into a Jetty trip but they start at 750. $3000 for deep sea.
