So I need to get out on the water badly and want to continue my trend of trying new lakes. I want to hit a new lake in June. Right now Conroe is in the top three for the next lake to try. I have never been there but reports are it is good of course.
My plan is to rent a place and fish for about a week. I plan on getting a place with a dock or renting a marina slip so I do not have to launch daily. I have a 19' fish and ski (99% fish) with two fish finders. I also have a 36V GPS spot-lock trolling motor (so sweet) so I can cover a lot of water without the motor. I'm not shy about getting in the stumps and trees. Normally I target LMB but I am flexible.
Questions: 1. Am I going to be able to get to some good fishing spots but be able to avoid the wake boats and the jet skis? It looks like there are a lot of areas with submerged stumps which would be good for cover and for (maybe) keeping away the non-fishing boats. I am also up for fishing in the late evening and night time. 2. How are the LMBs in June, or should I be targeting something else? I'm taking my daughter so I'm not out for DDs or PBs, just a keeper or two; my daughter lives for fresh cooked bass.
Thanks in advance.

No, especially on the weekends. Get there and see the area on the weekend, fish during the week. During the week, morning time, it’ll be nice. The fish are deep, try some crappie fishing, or troll for hybrids.

Get with the biologist for Conroe. They will give you plenty of information. Also ask them for maybe some specific shocking survey locations or ask them if they could send you some specific locations on the lake that they would try for the time of year you are going.

Thanks in advance. I live 30 minutes from Conroe and I do not subject myself to its BS. There are many other lakes I would go to before Conroe. You apparently live in Laredo and you like trying out new lakes. So do I. If I was over your way, I would go to these lakes before the ole washing machine. (You may have been to some of these already.) 1) Choke Canyon 2) Medina 3) Lake Austin 4) Coleto Creek 5) Walter E. Long 6) Bastrop 7) Fayette County 8) Fork 9) Texoma 10) Sam Rayburn 11) Toledo Bend

Conroe is tough most of the year. There are good fish but not a huge bass population. The local hammers can catch good tournament sacks year around buts it’s always the haves and have nots.. I always suggest night fishing it during the week in the summer. It is well lit, and the bass just seem to eat better.
Look deep and stay deep. The boat pressure and lack of shoreline cover forces the fish out into brush piles and drops. Stay above the bridge and launch at Stowaway to avoid the bigger pleasure yachts and 40 ft racing boats.
The lake has lots of crappie around the bridges. Follow shade lines as day progresses. Hybrids are good there too.
Wknds be off the water by noon if you do not have a bigger boat. And wear your life jacket. ,

Thanks all for the great info. On get with the biologists, do you mean the TPWD Conroe folks?
Some more comments if it helps, please chime in. - Boat is a 19' Fish and ski with a 150 HP outboard. I'll be using Garmin Navionics maps. - We are going to be at Conroe Sunday through Friday so we will miss the weekend crowd. I like night fishing in the summer, and even have submersible LED lights for the boat. Mornings work too. - The border lakes are out of the question when I have my daughter with me; wife is paranoid about the border. So Amistad, Falcon, etc. are out. - I really need to avoid launching daily so a place with a dock is a must. From what I have seen this rules out a lot of lakes on the list above. Basically I need an AirBnB or the like with a boat dock. - Rayburn and Toledo are both on my list but from what I saw Rayburn did not have any dock options, and Toledo is a bit too far for this trip. - I do not think there are rentals with docks options either at Choke or Bastrop, correct me if I am wrong. - I've fished Medina a zillion times, and it is extremely low right now. Most of the docks are not even in the water, and a 4x4 is needed to launch safely.
I would have to work fast to change my plans at this point, but if anyone has suggestions for a good fishing lake, with house/condo/cabin rentals WITH A DOCK I'm open to input.

It’s not a big bass lake, but lake Somerville might provide what you are looking for

Get out early. During the week the crowd isn’t too bad. It’s a very tough lake to fish without lake knowledge. Great average bass size but not a numbers lake by any stretch of the imagination. You can find structure on places you would sink brush like points. Summer heat Is here. Fishing will be tough. Try 15 to 20 right now. Once the thermocilne develops then suspended between 12 to 15.
