I'm a guide and I get into them once in a while ... best and only thing to do when there's too many around is to find another spot. kinda hard to do when you're a bank fisherman but there should be other areas you can fish. once in a while they're just too many and it's impossible to fish for catfish for them so moving is the only option that I know of. No need to mess around in that area either since there are so many drum there's usually not very many catfish. so that's two reasons to find another spot.

Freshwater drum ( Gaspergoo ) make pretty fine eating themselves.

But they also make pretty good cut bait!

I'm with everyone else. They make good cutbait. Cut them in good chunks and their kin won't mess with you.

Black Drum and Freshwater Drum are not the same fish, but they are related. They're also related to Red Drum, AKA Redfish, which most people seem to agree make fine eating.

Freshwater Drum are basically just the native freshwater cousin of those fish.

Eat'em. If you don't have the nerve to try them by themselves, fry up some filets of Goo with some filets of white bass and try to tell them apart. They are good to eat.

Did it, cut them all into bite sized chunks, coated in seasoned corn meal and fried...couldnt' really tell the difference hehe. Yum.
