It’s crew and pilot shortages

It’s the beginning of a very busy travel season and after many airlines downsized during COVID, they have not responded with building back up to speed.

Downsized and all the pilots and crews that were fired for not getting vaxed. It’s now biting them in the @ss and sticking out to travelers. Flights canceled, can’t get you there for 2 more days and no repercussions. Sucks for the traveler.

And it’s only going to get worse as summer travel drags on

We flew United to Nashville for a wedding a couple of weeks ago, we found out after getting to the airport for our return flight that it had been cancelled due to no flight crew available. Spent almost 20 hours at the airport before we got a flight home.

happened to me going to AK last summer - my 8 hour trip on American ended up being 48 hours on United, Delta, and American with an overnight stay in Denver

Airlines pull that [censored] way too often. Had it happen to us several times, spring break flight delayed 3hrs due to weather., they do realize we can look at radar right? Not a cloud in the sky on our route.

Was talking to my neighbor flies for American the other day. He said they are booking flights knowing that they don't have the staff for all of them. Then they make the decision day before or day of on who gets cancelled. All flights that do make it out are packed full.
