My brother over in Georgetown sent this picture of the snake in his front yard. When I lived there we used to see one every year. I guess they still do.

Coral snakes have small mouths and often are not aggressive. However, unlike our Texas pit vipers, coral snake venom is primarily a neurotoxin. Symptoms from the bite may not be immediate. The neurotoxin can stop your breathing and result in death if left untreated. Fortunately, deaths from coral snake bites have almost be eliminated with the creation of antivenom.

Snakes are on the move. Killed a good sized Copperhead in my backyard Monday mid afternoon. Not on the guest list.
